Let’s pay r-e-s-p-e-c-t to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. This music legend would have turned 77 today.

Aretha Franklin, whose music inspired millions over the past six decades, died on August 16, 2018 in her hometown of Detroit.

Aretha was an 18-time Grammy winner, recipient of The Presidential Medal of Freedom (the U.S.A.’s highest civilian honor), Grammy Lifetime Achievement and Grammy Living Legend awards and was named number 1 on Rolling Stone’s “Greatest Singers of All Time” list.

She also received the Rhythm and Blues Foundation Pioneer award and Kennedy Center Honor. Plus, she was the first woman inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

In honor of this Queen’s birthday, here’s a look at some of the most iconic moments of her career.
