April 23, 2018

Coachella has come and gone, but the photos and festival FOMO will live on forever. We aren’t sure how Coachella can top their 2018 lineup. Weekend one was cool, but weekend two was hot. We mean this literally with the weather conditions and figuratively with the performances.

Here are the major moments from weekend two at Coachella.

One of the headliners Friday night was Kygo. Rumors were swirling on social media and around Coachella about Ariana Grande making an appearance on someone’s set. Kygo welcomed “the one and only Ariana Grande” onstage to sing her new single “No Tears Left to Cry.” At the end of Kygo’s performance, he dedicated a tribute to fellow DJ Avicii, who passed away suddenly on Friday at the young age of twenty-eight. As an image of Avicii took over the screens on stage, Kygo played Avicii’s 2017 hit “Without You.”

The Weeknd

This is not The Weeknd’s first time preforming at the desert festival. He performed in 2012, 2015 (where be brought out Kanye West), and 2018. The Weeknd didn’t bring out any special guests this year, but he did make one comment to his audience this weekend. “Weekend two is definitely better than weekend one.” Maybe we can read into a little too much here at The Wendy Show, but given his recent heartbreak with Selena Gomez, we believe The Weeknd rose above the storm and possibly grew to be a different person as a result.

Ah yes, Beyoncé did it again. Many anticipated that Queen Bey would have a whole other set prepared for weekend two, but that was not the case. The performance was very much the same with three key differences. First of all, Bey’s attire embraced a totally different color scheme than black and yellow: white and hot pink. We never knew how good Beyoncé looked in hot pink! Bey also wore white for her opener, and while dancing off with Solange. Speaking of Solange, we’ve never seen a better sister moment than what happened during Bey and Solange’s dance off. While the two were dancing, Beyoncé lifted up Solange only to accidentally drop her and fall on the ground herself. They ended up rolling around on the ground and simultaneously kicked their legs in the air and got up. Wendy said it reminded her of sisters having a pillow fight when they were younger. Repeating guests at Bey’s performance included Solange, Destiny’s Child, JAY-Z, but she brought out surprise guest J Balvin this time around. Beyoncé performed “Mi Gente” without Balvin in the first weekend. Bey even threw in a few salsa moves while Balvin was belting it out. A number of celebs came out to see Beyoncé in her element during weekend two, including daughter Blue Ivy, Marilyn Manson, Tinashe, Tyler the Creator, Jamie Foxx, Katie Holmes, and Cardi B. JAY-Z actually same up to Cardi during Beyoncé’s set and gave her baby bump a rub. That has to be good luck for baby Cardi right?!

Cardi B

Cardi B is seven months pregnant, but she didn’t let little Bacardi hold her back! She was dippin’ and doin’ it on stage just like she did the previous weekend. Cardi’s dance moves were a big topic of discussion after weekend one. Before her second Coachella performance, she told Ellen DeGeneres the reasons for her dance moves. “They say the more you move, the easier it will come out… I was just trying to show the world how I got pregnant in the first place!”

Celebrated my 10 years yesterday.

The day before Eminem’s weekend two set on Sunday, he shared on Instagram that he celebrated 10 years of sobriety on Saturday. Jermaine noted that Coachella looked like a ghost town on Sunday during weekend one after Beyoncé’s performance. This weekend, it seemed more people stuck around on Sunday for the real Slim Shady. He rapped a number of his songs, including songs that brought him down memory lane to the days of his addiction to pills. Coachella also celebrated Eminem by having a food booth called “Mom’s Spaghetti” available for festival goers. Eminem closed out Coachella 2018 by singing “Lose Yourself,” which is where Mom’s spaghetti gained its reputation.
