If Wendy asked her studio audience to clap if they liked the month of January, the clapation would be below zero. We get that January is the most underwhelming month of the year. In true Wendy fashion, we will find any excuse to celebrate ourselves, life, or really anything.
Here’s Wendy’s January Survival Guide!
Think of January as a New Beginning
We will get the most obvious (and cliché) reason out of the way first. The month of January is like hitting the reset button on life. Everything that happened last year, except celebrity drama, is forgotten. You have a clean slate, so life can only go up from here, honey!
Hibernation is Key
If there is any reason to lay around all weekend watching true crime stories in a robe sipping tea, January is the perfect excuse! At last, the temperatures have dropped low enough to safely say, “It’s too cold to go out dancing tonight.” Plus, our favorite shows are back now that December is over. That means no more reruns, including from The Wendy Show! Catch up on the latest Hot Topics on your weekends this month.
Retailers know that you have hella gift cards to spend. Now is the time (if you haven’t already) to treat yourself to all the things you weren’t able to get last month. Being generous is hard work! Side note: if you’re the type of person that buys new holiday decorations every year, try shopping for them in January instead of December. Everything will be on clearance. If you can’t afford anything, you can always add things to your shopping cart and never actually buy anything. Shoutout to those who don’t have two cents to rub together thanks to the holidays last month. We feel your pain!
Some of us have off, some of us don’t. Either way, Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday is a day to celebrate his legacy. Listen to his speech, get chills (cry), and watch The Wendy Show. Oh yes. We will be live on Monday, January 15th celebrating as well.
Award Show Season Starts
It’s the most wonderful time of the year at The Wendy Show: awards season! We already had the Golden Globes, and there are more to come. The 24th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, or SAG Awards, will be live on TBS and TNT on Sunday, January 21 at 8pm. The Grammys will be just a few blocks from the Wendy studio at Madison Square Garden live on CBS on January 28th at 7:30pm. Grab your snacks, and we will talk on Monday.
The Style of it All
If there is one thing January has going on, it’s fashion. Essence Magazine’s Joiee Thorpe stopped showed us the winter fashion must-haves, and we’re here for it. She went over the latest trends for winter to keep cute and stay warm. From hats, to coats, to boots, you’ll be styled better than you have been in months.
