By Joanne Rosa

It was Latin night on “Dancing With the Stars”. The stars made things extra steamy and some even got a little spicy.

Things cooled down by the end of the night when an unexpected star was cut from the competition.

Nikki Bella & Artem Chigvintsev

NIKKI BELLA, ARTEM CHIGVINTSEV

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“Despasito” (feat. Daddy Yankee) by Luis Fonsi
Samba
#TeamSmackdown

Nikki is having some trouble concentrating while she’s dancing with Artem. She told the camera she completely loses focus when she dances with him. It’s hard to believe she has any difficulty when her fiancé is John Cena! The judges loved how Nikki looked, but she lost her rhythm at one point in the song. That being said, they appreciated that the routine was a genuine samba (minus the gyrating in the beginning).

Carrie Ann: 6
Len: 6
Bruno: 6
TOTAL: 18/30

Victoria Arlen & Val Chmerkovskiy

VICTORIA ARLEN, VALENTIN CHMERKOVSKIY

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“Easy” by Sky Ferreira
Rumba
#TeamViVa

Victoria had to cut the space between her and Val to get the rumba routine down correctly. The judges thought Victoria was authentic with her dance. Len wished Victoria a happy birthday, and then told her that the dance didn’t feel like a rumba at all. If his eyes were closed, he wouldn’t have been able to tell they were dancing a rumba.

Carrie Ann: 7
Len: 6
Bruno: 7
TOTAL: 20/30

Derek Fisher & Sharna Burgess

DEREK FISHER, SHARNA BURGESS

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“Diablo Rojo” by Rodrigo y Gabriela
Paso Doblé
#TeamHoopsAndHeels

Derek had to look at Sharna as his opponent last night with the Paso Doblé. It all paid off. The judges told Derek to open his body more in his dancing, and he clearly listened to their critique. Derek is getting comfortable being outside of his comfort zone.

Carrie Ann: 7
Len: 6
Bruno: 6
TOTAL: 19/30

Sasha Pieterse & Gleb Savchenko

SASHA PIETERSE, GLEB SAVCHENKO

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“Most Girls” by Hailee Steinfeld
Samba
#TeamATeam

From the sparkle in her eye, to the point in her toes, Sasha’s performance was on fire (in a good way). She had the technique, the flair, and everything in-between. After losing 15 pounds since joining DWTS, Sasha is feeling – and looking – great.

Carrie Ann: 8
Len: 7
Bruno: 7
TOTAL: 22/30

Nick Lachey & Peta Murgatroyd

NICK LACHEY, PETA MURGATROYD

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“She’s a Lady” by Lion Babe
Argentine Tango
#TeamMomAndPops

Nick really went into character for this dance! There was obvious passion in Nick’s dancing, although he was still pretty tight in his hips. Len said next time, Nick needs to learn the steps of the dance before he learns the character of the dancer. Shady Len always says it like he means it.

Carrie Ann: 7
Len: 6
Bruno: 6
TOTAL: 19/30

Jordan Fisher & Lindsay Arnold

LINDSAY ARNOLD, JORDAN FISHER

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“Mi Gente” by J. Balvin & Willy William
Samba
#TeamFishUponAStar

Jordan’s competitive side is coming out, and it’s totally working for them. Jordan and Lindsay have great energy together, and they thrive off of each other. Len said he would overlook the apparent “peculiar leg action” from Jordan, which Len attributed to his shoes.

Carrie Ann: 8
Len: 8
Bruno: 8
TOTAL: 24/30

Drew Scott & Emma Slater

DREW SCOTT, EMMA SLATER

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“Lights Down Low” (feat. gnash) by Max
Rumba
#TeamHotProperty

After a much needed spray tan, Drew took to the dance floor to fix up his dance moves. This fixer upper was a success. Len went as far as saying it was Drew’s best dance yet. Remember, there have only been three dances so far. Still, it was pretty good considering how he danced Monday night.

Carrie Ann: 7
Len: 7
Bruno: 7
TOTAL: 21/30

Debbie Gibson & Alan Bersten

ALAN BERSTEN, DEBBIE GIBSON

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“Havana” (feat. Young Thug) by Camila Capello
Argentine Tango
#TeamSonBerst

We saw a different side of Debbie last night, and that’s a good thing. She was intense and sexy. Just one thing she has to remember: point the feet!

Carrie Ann: 7
Len: 7
Bruno: 7
TOTAL: 21/30

Vanessa Lachey & Maksim Chmerkovskiy

VANESSA LACHEY, MAKSIM CHMERKOVSKIY

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“Instruction” (feat. Demi Lovato & Stefflon Don) by Jax Jones
Salsa
#TeamBabiesandBallrooms

All of that dancing at clubs in Vanessa’s early 20’s is apparently paying off! She and Maks were totally in sync last night. Len said she was 110% a serious contender to win the mirror ball trophy this season.

Carrie Ann: 8
Len: 8
Bruno: 7
TOTAL: 23/30

Terrell Owens & Cheryl Burke

Disney ABC

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“Hot in Here” by Nelly
Samba
#TeamGetchaPopcorn

The good news is that since Terrell’s start, he’s gotten better. The bad news is that the judges aren’t sure it will be good enough. Bruno liked the energy Terrell brought to the dance floor, but Carrie thinks he needs to open up his body more.

Carrie Ann: 6
Len: 6
Bruno: 7
TOTAL: 19/30

Lindsey Stirling & Mark Ballas

LINDSEY STIRLING, MARK BALLAS

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“Mani Picao” by Ricky Campanelli
Salsa
#TeamSTARK

This dance routine was fast, and Lindsey kept up with the pace! She owned that dance and made it her own. As Carrie Ann put it, Lindsey became the dancer, the music, and the melody of last night’s dance.

Carrie Ann: 8
Len: 8
Bruno: 8
TOTAL: 24/30

Frankie Muniz & Witney Carson

FRANKIE MUNIZ, WITNEY CARSON

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“Perm” by Bruno Mars
Cha Cha
#TeamFranneyPack

When you train 14 hours a day, you better get standing ovations from the audience. The judges couldn’t believe how well Frankie did during his routine last night. Bruno had to stand up to give his commentary, and he gave him the first nine of the night!

Carrie Ann: 8
Len: 8
Bruno: 9
TOTAL: 25/30

The judges scores and viewer votes from Monday night were combined, and put two couples in jeopardy, and voted one off.

Nick and Peta, and Debbie and Alan were in jeopardy.

alan-bersten-and-debbie-gibson

Debbie said despite her loss, she will keep dancing.

A new episode of DWTS airs on Monday at 8|7c on ABC.
