With the first elimination on everyone’s mind, the stars kept things cheery with their opening dances. One pair’s fate has already been decided, but that won’t stop them from dancing.

Debbie Gibson & Alan Bersten

ALAN BERSTEN, DEBBIE GIBSON

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“This is My Time” by Amy Stroup
Quickstep
#TeamSonBerst

Debbie’s dance will be a hard act to follow. Debbie was strong, fast, and confident in her dance. All three judges agreed that Debbie could use more control in her dancing, especially when it comes to her footwork.

Carrie Ann: 7
Len: 6
Bruno: 7
TOTAL: 20/30

Nikki Bella & Artem Chigvintsev

NIKKI BELLA, ARTEM CHIGVINTSEV

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“Come Away with Me” by Norah Jones
Waltz
#TeamSmackdown

The queen of throwing down gave viewers a glimpse at her softer side. Nikki dedicated the dance Monday night to her Nana, who she described as the most elegant woman she’s ever known. Bruno said her dances were under control Monday night, and she let herself go a little (which is great). Carrie Ann pointed out that Nikki lost her balance a little during the dance, but she saw it as progress for trusting her partner more.

Carrie Ann: 7
Len: 7
Bruno: 7
TOTAL: 21/30

Lindsey Stirling & Mark Ballas

LINDSEY STIRLING, MARK BALLAS

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“Swing Set” by Jurassic 5
Quickstep
#TeamSTARK

“You have this natural elegance,” Carrie Ann boasted about Lindsey. Len thought the whole dance was entertaining. “It was light, it was bright, it was fun,” Len said. Meanwhile, the dance made Bruno feel like he was on a psychedelic trip. Between the colors and the fast paced moves from the quickstep, but he could still see that her arms needed to be more controlled.

Carrie Ann: 7
Len: 7
Bruno: 7
TOTAL: 21/30

Barbara Corcoran & Keo Motsepe

KEO MOTSEPE, BARBARA CORCORAN

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“Whatever Lola Wants” by Amy Stroup
Tango
#TeamSharkeo

As a dyslexic woman, Barbara is nervous about moving forward in the competition after getting such low scores last week. Len said it was definitely an improvement from last week, but Barbara still needs a lot of work. Bruno and Carrie Ann agreed that her dance moves improved from last week and is more relaxed.

Carrie Ann: 6
Len: 5
Bruno: 6
TOTAL: 17/30

Nick Lachey & Peta Murgatroyd

NICK LACHEY, PETA MURGATROYD

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“Mandy” by Barry Manilow
Foxtrot
#TeamMomAndPops

Nick might have brought his wife Vanessa to tears, but the judges were not so moved. Peta’s dress got caught under Nick’s foot, and it made him lose balance. While Carrie Ann saw improvement from last week, Len was less than impressed.

Carrie Ann: 7
Len: 6
Bruno: 6
TOTAL: 19/30

Drew Scott & Emma Slater

DREW SCOTT, EMMA SLATER

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“Sing, Sing, Sing” by Louis Prima
Quickstep
#TeamHotProperty

After pulling his hamstring during rehearsal, Drew appeared to struggle as he moved around the dance floor. Len called Drew’s dancing “gangly.” Bruno thought the performance was lovely, and it was definitely better than last week.

Carrie Ann: 7
Len: 6
Bruno: 7
TOTAL: 20/30

Vanessa Lachey & Maksim Chmerkovskiy

VANESSA LACHEY, MAKSIM CHMERKOVSKIY

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“Hit Me with a Hot Note” by Tami Tappan Damiano
Foxtrot
#TeamBabiesandBallrooms

Ok, so Vanessa and Wendy might be cut from the same cloth. They cry easy, whether it’s good or bad. This time, Vanessa cried tears of joy for her performance. Where’s the Wendy couch tissue holder when you need it?! Vanessa’s routine was polished and made every move look easy.

Carrie Ann: 8
Len: 8
Bruno: 8
TOTAL: 24/30

Frankie Muniz & Witney Carson

FRANKIE MUNIZ, WITNEY CARSON

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“Whatever It Takes” by Imagine Dragons
Tango
#TeamFranneyPack

With Frankie previously breaking his back, he’s has difficulty with looking fluid in his dance routine. That being said, the judges had to admit that Frankie didn’t miss one move! He was committed to the dance, perhaps even too committed according to Len’s opinion. Regardless, Frankie received one of the highest scores of the night.

Carrie Ann: 8
Len: 7
Bruno: 8
TOTAL: 23/30

Terrell Owens & Cheryl Burke

Disney ABC

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“Pillow Talk” by ZAYN
Foxtrot
#TeamGetchaPopcorn

Terrell turned up the heat Monday night. The dance was hot, sexy, and better than last week. Len thought the whole thing was a bit too raunchy. Host Tom Bergeron thought Terrell was at a disadvantage last week by coming out first. Hopefully it doesn’t hurt him tonight.

Carrie Ann: 7
Len: 6
Bruno: 7
TOTAL: 20/30

Sasha Pieterse & Gleb Savchenko

SASHA PIETERSE, GLEB SAVCHENKO

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“I’m Going Down” by Rose Royce
Viennese Waltz
#TeamATeam

Sasha’s parents are professional ballroom dancers. So we all expected Sasha to be good, but not that good. Sasha killed it! She was gorgeous, graceful, and didn’t miss a beat. Leave it to Bruno to find one flaw in such a beautiful dance. He thought one of her arm movements looked like karate chopping. They rolled the clip, but Carrie Ann said she didn’t see anything wrong with her arms.

Carrie Ann: 8
Len: 8
Bruno: 7
TOTAL: 23/30

Victoria Arlen & Val Chmerkovsky

VICTORIA ARLEN, VALENTIN CHMERKOVSKIY

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“Look What You Made Me Do” by Taylor Swift
Tango
#TeamViVa

Victoria was able to take control of the dance, and actually lead Val in the dance. Because of Victoria’s condition, she is forced to rely on Val and literally lean into him at times. This works to her advantage in the dance routines.

Carrie Ann: 8
Len: 8
Bruno: 8
TOTAL: 24/30

Derek Fisher & Sharna Burgess

DEREK FISHER, SHARNA BURGESS

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“Hallelujah, I Love Her So” by Ray Charles
Foxtrot
#TeamHoopsAndHeels

Carrie Ann thinks there is something so enjoyable about watching Derek, but she needs him to dance bigger. He has the dance steps down, but he needs to open up more. Derek’s mom came by the show Monday night, and she admitted to Erin that she thought the judges were spot on, but she knows he’ll get it next time.

Carrie Ann: 6
Len: 6
Bruno: 7
TOTAL: 19/30

Jordan Fisher & Lindsay Arnold

LINDSAY ARNOLD, JORDAN FISHER

ABC/Craig Sjodin

“Count on Me” by Judah Kelly
Viennese Waltz
#TeamFishUponAStar

Len liked the dance, but Len being Len, he had to critique at least little. He told Jordan that the moves were too staccato. Carrie Ann said that there is no denying Jordan is a great dancer, but the moves need to be less jazzy and more ballroom.

Carrie Ann: 8
Len: 8
Bruno: 8
TOTAL: 24/30

The first cut is the deepest.

The couples in jeopardy were Terrell and Cheryl, Barbara and Keo.

Barbara and Keo won’t be dancing with the stars on Tuesday night. Barbara was thankful for the opportunity, and she had fun while it lasted.

Better luck on Shark Tank, Barbara!

Tune into ABC tonight at 9|8c for a second night of Dancing With the Stars.
