After a year of flying solo, Kelly Ripa has named Ryan Seacrest as her new co-host.
There is no denying it was a long run before Kelly found a fitting co-host, but “LIVE with Kelly!” didn’t twiddle their thumbs until the right co-host came along.
Let’s go over what the year has been like for Kelly Ripa.
On Friday May 13th, 2016 Michael Strahan put in his last day at “LIVE with Kelly and Michael!” Kelly had friend to the show Jimmy Kimmel step up as the first guest co-host of “LIVE with Kelly!” on Monday May 16th, 2016.
By June 2016, “LIVE with Kelly!” went on a brief summer hiatus for some much needed sun and relaxation.
Summer passed and the sting of Michael Strahan’s abrupt exit wore off. A new season and a fresh start of “LIVE with Kelly!” began in September 2016. The show announced to viewers that they could have a chance to co-host with Kelly giving everyone a fair chance to fill Michael’s big shoes.
Halloween with Jerry O’Connell came and went and the holiday season ran its course, but still no permanent co-host.
By Winter 2017, it’s obvious who some of Kelly’s favorites are. This includes Jerry O’Connell, BFF Anderson Cooper, and hubby Mark Consuelos. Kelly admitted on Andy Cohen’s “Watch What Happens LIVE!” that Anderson Cooper is the co-host that got away.
Kelly went through co-hosts this past year like platters of nachos at Friday’s happy hour.
If there is one things we are sure Kelly didn’t do, it’s settle. Congratulations to Kelly and Ryan!
