We don’t pay much attention to sports here at Wendy, but we’re all in when the biggest stars end up in Hot Topics.
These athletes may be good at their trade, but we are giving them Wendy points for a whole other reason. Even when they aren’t playing their sport, they’re winning at life.
Check out why these 10 athletes score a perfect 10 on the Wendy scoreboard!
Although A-Rod retired from the Yankees in 2016, the third basemen hit a homerun a few months ago! Rumor has it that Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez are dating. It wasn’t long before Jen posted a picture with the Yankee slugger on Instagram and the two have been going steady ever since.
Now, J-Rod can lounge on the couch, watch the Yankees, and chill.
Lindsey is known for being the most successful downhill skier of all time! She has broken records, bones, and morale. In 2013, Linds crashed in Schladming, Austria, forcing her to end her season early. She was dating golf pro Tiger Woods at the time. In her book “Strong Is the New Beautiful,” she said Tiger “helped” her during her recovery, and depression. In the end, Linds said “[the] relationship had become increasingly difficult to maintain, given our conflicting event schedules and two different homes across the country… I was grateful to have both [my] dogs with me that spring [we ended].”
Lindsey went on to break the female record for the most downhill victories. She has 37 wins, to be exact proving you don’t need a man to achieve greatness!
Soccer star David Beckham brought new meaning to the game. He is arguably the most iconic soccer player in history. Beckham played for Manchester United, Real Madrid, and the L.A. Galaxy. Beckham is so popular, they even titled a movie with his name. He scored his biggest victory in 1999 when he started dating Spice Girl Posh Spice, AKA Victoria. If only he could convince his wife to do a Spice Girls reunion tour, we’d be really happy! They did fall in love while she was Posh Spice, after all!
Today, they have four children, who they regularly show off on social media.
Simone wowed America and the world by becoming the most decorated American gymnast. The 4’ 8” athlete won 19 Olympic and World Championship medals. Not only is Simone an incredible athlete, she’s also an incredible person. Simone and her sister were put into foster care at a young age. Eventually, her grandparents went on to adopt them both. On Dancing With the Stars, Simone opened up (LINK: http://www.wendyshow.com/2017/04/11/dwts-recap-a-night-to-remember/#.WO5U1FKZNBw) about her early childhood and put her feelings on the dance floor with the help of partner Sasha Farber. She had the entire audience in tears, including us at home.
Simone’s strength (and we aren’t talking about her muscles, on muscles, on muscles) is worthy of another gold medal, or the DWTS Mirror Ball!
Floyd Mayweather ended his almost 20-year boxing career after defeating Andre Berto in 2015. He is a great fighter and arguably the G.O.A.T. Floyd Mayweather is considered one of the hardest working boxers of all time. According to Forbes, Mayweather is worth $340 million, and Business Insider reported he has 2 fleets of luxury cars, a G5 private jet, and often travels with bundles of cash.
As long as you stay on Floyd Mayweather’s good side, you’ll be golden, instead of black and blue.
Even with his slender frame, Stephen Curry showed the world that with hard work, anything is possible, including playing point guard for the Golden State Warriors. Stephen is lucky enough to be the son of two athletes, one being a former NBA player. Stephen’s story began in Charlotte, North Carolina, with his Mom. While his Dad was off playing basketball, Stephen’s Mom taught him self-discipline. Stephen said in an interview, “Make it work no matter what you have to work with—that’s something that stuck with me very early on… Adjust. Get creative. Try a different angle, a different lane, a different move or a different shot—just make it work.”
Remember when his daughter Riley took over his championship game press conferences? He’s handsome and a great dad! Just two reasons Stephen is winning at life.
Think racing cars is just for guys? Think again! Danica Patrick drives the No. 10 car in Nascar. In 2008, Danica became the first woman to win a major-league open-wheel race in a North American series. Danica is speeding through Nascar barriers for all women drivers. Danica is also a great prankster. She played a joke over Instagram on April Fools Day by pretending she and boyfriend Ricky Stenhouse Jr. were engaged. Plus, driving takes way more muscles than you think. She is a huge yogi, and keeps herself fit through challenging yoga poses.
Is there anything this woman can’t do?!
The young Seattle Seahawk quarterback is more than just a pretty face. He is one of the youngest quarterbacks in the league and has never lost against a Super Bowl winning quarterback, including both Manning brothers. Russell is not only a great football player, but he is also a writer. Russell submitted a piece to The Players Tribune, discussing a win against the Green Bay Packers. Russel has it all: beauty, brains, brawn, and the beautiful Ciara by his side.
At age 26, Russell is scoring touchdowns on and off the field.
Venus and Serena Williams
Sisters Venus and Serena Williams are tennis champions. They win playing together or separately. Venus won the Grand Slam title seven times and Serena won twenty-three times. The Williams sisters kill it on their own, but there is no arguing that they are stronger together. Since Serena’s recent engagement to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, Venus is fully there to support her though the wedding plans, or escape them if need be. Venus told People, “I am so excited for Serena… I am looking forward to doing whatever Serena asks.” Williams also told People she knows she will be an important part of the wedding party.
There is nothing better than having a ride or die sister/ BFF.
