Spring Break Destinations

By Joanne Rosa

You’ve made it through the long winter. January through March is pretty much a drag. The holidays are over; it’s cold, dark, and just an overall bummer to be honest. As a reward for getting through another cold season, you deserve a little getaway trip!

You won’t have to go too far to forget all of your worries. Take a break this spring in one of these must-see destinations in the good ol’ USA.

The fishing pier and Atlantic Ocean at Tybee Island, Georgia.

Savannah, Georgia is the prefect combination of old southern charm, and a beach getaway. Savannah’s spring weather is perfect. With a subtropical climate, light breeze, and temps in the high 70s to low 80s, you’re sure to have a great time.

Tybee Island is where you can get your beach-ation on. Tybee Island is a short 20-minute drive from Savannah. The beaches are never overcrowded, and can see tides up to six feet high. So if you want to go surfing, you can make it happen. Tybee Island has shops, restaurants, and easy access to the beach, so you’ll never have to do a lot of walking.

Be sure to visit Savannah’s City Market for a lively entertainment experience. Have a drink on Savannah’s River Street during happy hour. Savannah is the oldest city in Georgia, so you won’t want to miss its historic district, filled with mansions, museums, churches, and features from the Revolutionary and Civil War eras.

ATandT building towers over historic buildings of lower Broadway, Nashville, Tennessee, USA

You absolutely must see Nashville Tennessee. The flowers will be blooming (might want to take your allergy meds), making it perfect for all of the outdoor events Nashville has to offer! It has great food, fashion, and fun, especially in East Nashville. It’s kinda hipster, and we kinda love it.

It isn’t called Music City for nothing! Nashville has live music at practically every street corner. It’s the home of the Grand Ole Opry, as well as the Country Music Hall of Fame. If you are vacationing on a budget, there are plenty of free concerts to see around the city. Nashville’s best known for its country and jazz scene, so expect a lot of that.

If you think you’ll be getting bored in Nashville, we have one thing to say to you: Honky Tonk Highway! Honky Tonk Highway features live street music from 10:00 AM – 3:00 AM. This magical place won’t cost you a thing. It’s a free party, and you might just catch the next big star on stage!

Statue of Liberty and Liberty Island with Manhattan skyline in view, New York City, New York, United States of America, North America

New York City is arguably one of the greatest cities in the world, and for all the right reasons. NYC is the city that never sleeps, because the list of things to do is endless! We suggest getting a hotel in Manhattan, as it will be central to everything you’ll probably want to do.

Of course, you must go sight seeing at all of the typical spots. After all, did you really go to NYC if you didn’t go to the top of The Rock? The list is quite long, but we definitely recommend The Empire State Building, The Statue of Liberty, The Museum of Natural History, Central Park, The 9/11 Memorial and Museum, and Rockefeller Center. If you absolutely must go see Times Square, we suggest proceeding with caution. Times Square is basically a New Yorker’s version of Hell, but we understand the desire to go (the snap story).

Aside from the regular attractions, New York City is filled with culture and diversity. Try as much food as possible. Do lots of shopping. Go see a Broadway show. Download the Today Tix app to purchase affordable, last-minute tickets. For the beauty-nistas, visit Bite Beauty Lip Lap to make you own lipstick. And of course, come see The Wendy Williams Show! Tickets are free, and our co-hosts always have an amazing time.
