Today, we post pictures on social media, and spit out words that we think we should say to make people see our lives how we want them to be seen. But, there is so much to our lives that no one knows. That is the important stuff that makes us, us.

NBC’s new hit show This Is Us is just as good as the reviews say it is. If you haven’t jumped on the bandwagon yet, you should start. Without giving away any spoilers, the show is about the lives of four people all born on the same day. Although they have this one similarity, their lives are very different, and distinct.

This Is Us evokes a variety of emotions from its viewers. To help, we’ve developed a three-step plan to prepare you

1. GATHER THE SNACKS

How many times have you cried hugging a tub of ice cream? Too many times you’d like to admit, I’m sure. We don’t condone emotional eating, as it is unhealthy to self-medicate. However, if you want to get through these episodes with a little help, we do recommend these junk food flips from Nikki Dinki!

2. KNOW THE FOLLOWING

-This Has Curveballs

Like life itself, you can be sure to expect the unexpected in This Is Us. Access Hollywood said that what viewers have seen so far, could be just the tip of the iceberg.

– This Is Real

There are moments in this show that are so real to what you or someone else has been going through, you’re like, “Wait a minute, did they base this off of me?!” No, they didn’t base it off of you, but expect to feel like it was. This is as real as it gets.

– This Gives You the Feels

Since the show is authentic to life itself, you can expect to get a bit emotional. Don’t think that you will be a blubbering mess the whole time, though. This Is Us will make you laugh, cry, become angered by that thing that happened 5 years ago. You’re gonna have a heartfelt response to everything that happens in the show.

3. ENJOY THE SHOW!

This Is Us should be enjoyed with a love one, or as Milo Ventimiglia suggests on Access Hollywood, a puppy. For every drastic low, there is an equally fulfilling high. Once you start watching, it will be impossible to stop, especially if you’re binge watching (this was learned the hard way). Once you’re caught up make sure you check out Wendy’s interview with This Is Us lead actress Chrissy Metz!

This Is Us airs Tuesday night 9/8c on NBC.
