Eat this, not this.

The number one resolution for the new year is to lose weight and get healthy.

Shaun T., creator of “Insanity,” shows us what to eat to help us reach our weight loss goals this year.

sweet-potatoes

Sweet Potatoes:
They’re fat-free, relatively low in sodium and have fewer calories than white potatoes. They’re one of the best sources of vitamin A and a large one contains more than 100 percent of the daily recommended intake. Vitamin A is an antioxidant powerhouse, and is linked to anti-aging benefits, cancer prevention and the maintenance of good eyesight.

Eat This:
The simple and healthy baked sweet potato: Bake it, slice it and mash the middle and season it with a drizzle of agave nectar.

Fried non fried: Slice the sweet potatoes in the shape of fries and bake in oven, uncovered for 45 minutes and use Himalayan sea salt for seasoning.

Sweet potato baked chips: Slice sweet potatoes in the shape of thick potato chips. Leave the skin on. Bake and season with a little Lawry’s season salt and some hot sauce.

beef

Grass Fed Beef:
Grass fed beff has less fat and calories than grain-fed steak. It’s more heart-healthy and has more cancer fighting omega-3 fatty acids, than grain-fed steak.

Eat This:
Grass fed beef burger: Make your own burger. Season to your liking. Add some pepper bacon and avocado. NO BUN!

Protein breakfast: Mix and simmer ground grass fed beef in a pan, season with some hot sauce and beef seasoning. Add egg whites after the beef is coming to a finish. Stir and EAT.

squash

Healthy Spaghetti:
There are only 42 calories and 10 carbs in a 1-cup serving of cooked spaghetti squash. It’s rich with vitamins – vitamin C, A, B-6, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, folate, pantothenic acid and vitamin K. Spaghetti squash also contains a fair amount of fiber, which may also help in weight reduction as it makes you feel fuller longer.

Eat This:
Spaghetti squash instead of spaghetti noodles, with simple, low sodium, meat sauce.

whitefish

White Fish:
White fish is rich in protein and very low in fat. It improves blood pressure, lowers cholesterol and reduces weight
White fish is also rich in a number of B vitamins, which keeps the skin, nervous system and red blood cells healthy.

Eat This:
Fish tacos:
