Jennifer Holliday Snubbed by J-Hud and Oprah?!?!
The multi-talented Jennifer Holliday starred in “Dreamgirls” on Broadway and made the song “And I’m Telling You” famous.
Find out if she was ever offered a cameo role in the movie version of “Dreamgirls” and if Jennifer Hudson ever contacted her for advice.
Plus, Jennifer isn’t married, but reveals why she’s been lucky in the love department over the years.

I was reading the comments that some have had about Ms. Holliday and mostly were positive feed back. I just would like to say that I’m glad to see Ms. Holliday back in the lime light and doing what she is equiped to do and that’s move us with her voice! I think that alot of people are not understanding everything that Jennifer Holliday had endured during the process of DreamGirls. For 3 yrs in a row since the opening night of DreamGirls and she was cast as the role of Effie White, She gave EACH PERFORMANCE her all!!! I have the try out performance down to her last performance Dec 2, 1982 and she sung the song as if it was her last time. Even thru vocal challenges, she gave her best performance! And to have someone 25yrs later(during the time of the movie) to come and perform your role and not even give respect and acknowlegement of her hard work..(.hell the whole entire original cast as far as that goes) NO type of acknowlegement is DISRESPECTFUL AND A SLAP IN THE FACE. That’s all she(Jennifer Holliday) and the rest of the OBC members was saying when the production of DreamGirls the movie was going on. And to top it all off, EACH original cast member sold their rights to DreamGirls for $1!!!! Some of you had the nerve to say that Jennifer Holliday needs to get over about being snubbed! Are You serious! Yea, she may have had some tension between the producers of the play as well as some cast members at the time, but she was a young woman who felt like “you’re not going to take advantage of me of my talent for your gain$$$) and I’m sure if you was in Ms. Hollidays’ position, you would be a tab bit upset about being snubbed too!!!!

Out of respect, Jen Hudson should have asked for advice from Jen Holiday.

With regards to the mixed comments on Miss Jennifer Holliday’s feelings of being “snubbed” here is the post I made on YouTube, and I thought I’d share it with this site:
It’s simply a matter of respect; after all, (Hudson) mimicked the lady note for note gesture for gesture. It’s simply a matter or respect… which much of today’s society lacks for their elders or those who have paved the way for them. A contact or some type of notification or card would have been tastefully appointed; I agree with Miss Jennifer Holliday. I did not get the impression that there is any bitterness, just a feeling a being snubbed or overlooked… Hudson DID “copy” her.
**I LOVE THE WENDY WILLIAMS SHOW**

I love me some Jennifer Holiday. She’s in a class by herself.I always felt that she never received her props. There is so many people who aren’t nearly as talented always in the spot light. When she was first discovered she was rather healthy ..and perhaps that’s why her career did’t blow up like it should have.I think it’s sad how society looks at size more than the actual talent!! I ‘m glad to see such an awesome performance coming from my homegirl .Kudos to u Jennifer Hudson. Thanks Wendy for having her on your show!!! I truly enjoyed it and hope I get one of the cds.

To the person talking about real stars being on the show, what in the world are you talking about. You do not get the meaning of the show. Their are stars on Wendy everyday, please be quiet. Wendy, keep doing your thang and look over these people with no sense of what’s going on. I love you and your show. But, Wendy I would love a shout out during Hot Topics, “HOW U DOIN?’.
Love ya,
Dee Dixon

ONE REASON I LOVE JENNIFER HOLLIDAY:
Back during the pre-production works of the Broadway’s Dreamgirls, I believe Jennifer Holliday was about as wide as she was tall. Dark and chubby. Some looked upon her as a big-fat bag of charcoals. She was given hell trying to fit into Dreamgirls and I understood that she went back and forth trying–from Texas to New York a few times. She finally triumphed after hard work fitting into that role. She rose to the occasion–set the place on fire, figuratively–and the rest is her-story (his-story). She’s lost the half ton and has kept it down pretty well ever since. Her obese days are hardly remembered. I love her example.

I enjoyed the clip I meant to DVR the show & I forgot too. Ms Holiday is in class alone and yet to this day there is no one to compete with her.
Did Ms. Holiday sing? If so where is the clip?

I happen to adore Miss Jennifer Holliday, sincerely. I was 24 years old when Dreamgirls hit the Broadway stage. There were, I vaguely recall, a little behinds the scenes drama going on between Miss Holliday and the producers of the show at the time. I know Jennifer caught hell… and when she was finally called back to be in the show she sang the hell out of that song. She even implied at the time that much of her “direction” of that performance was at those producers. Lyrics and all. She demonstrated some very good professionalism back then.
As far as the new artist, Hudson, personally, I remember sending her express mail sympathy to arrive the very day of her people’s funeral services. Included creative writings to uplift her and even a movie script, and never a thank you card or anything was done from her end. I know she’s busy and all, but I’m just saying… I never really fanned any of her flames since that time. I have a collection of thank you’s and autographed photos from the classy ones, but J-Hud dissed me and I just moved on. Only saying it now as it relates to Miss Jennifer Holliday “feeling snubbed.”
I like Jennifer Holliday. She’s such a lady. And she looks fantastic!!
THANKS TO THE WENDY WILLIAMS SHOW for having Jennifer Holliday as a guest!!!!
