A Case of Mistaken Identity

A Wendy Exclusive.

Actress Rutina Wesley was a working actress and shot to overnight stardom after landing the role of Tara Thornton on the hugely successful HBO show, “True Blood.”

This year at the Emmys, Rutina was mistaken for another very popular black actress, Regina King.

Regina wrote an open letter, blasting the Emmy’s for their mistake.

Today, Rutina tells Wendy how she felt about the case of mistaken identity and Regina’s comments.

Take a look.

  2. Hey Wendy, How U Doing
I don’t understand or how we always mistaken for someone else, but it could be maybe we are thinking of that person or seen something and it is the first name that comes up. We all don’t look alike. Would love to come to your show, been watching since first day, tried on website can’t seem to get on.

  3. Hello Wendy,

I totally agree with the previous comment about Rutina Westley’s interview. I’m a fan of the show and of her work on the show. I thought it was very disrespectful the way you conducted the interview with her. She deserved a do over.

  4. I love true blood and I have never seen her before in a interview she is a good actress because she is country as hell on that show it was like seeing a totally different person also glad to see you back Wendy I have a summer vacation story about you I went to Jamicia this summer and on my down time in my room we only got a few channels when I was surfing and found your show it was great .. Love you Wendy

  5. why do people always think things need to be fixed. The uniqueness of the Wendy show was Wendy, the set and all that was different than the other shows – the wackey Wendy and the realness and urban attitude you had on radio. Understanding that some things need to change, but if you are going to try and be another Tyra or change to a point where you are just another talk show host, the show is not going to last. One thing with Ellen and Oprah is they are true to themselves and that is what kept them on the air. As Oprah evolved in what she was doing in the community and the world, she adjusted to that, but she was accepted because of who she was. That is not what Wendy stands for, but you could be as big as Oprah staying true to yourself. Keep the crazy, because that was such a release. You notice from your comments (not many) unless there is another page I should be looking at that people are not writing in as much. And why in NY are you not going to be on at 10:00pm. Just asking….

  6. It goes back to the old saying that we all look alike. Regina has been around since she was a kid on 227. Who in the industry won’t know her?

  7. hey wendy i love the show and you but i have to say that i was really disappointed in the lack luster interview with mrs. rutina wesley today. there were no real questions about the show or her career. i only heard answers to the questions that i already knew the anwer to like, how was anna and her husband’s wedding and the fact that she was “down with the whirl” none of which had anything to do with the character that mrs wesley plays on the show. i hope that you or someone from you team will read this and ask rutina back on and ask her some more questions about her role on True Blood and how she feels about her character on the show. and if you do please give her longer than a 5 minute interview. thanks

  8. Wendy I felt the same way you did when you saw Wayne Brady’s current girlfriend
But….. He went straight brother on you and checked you well. Bravo to him for speaking his mind. I think he is an extremely talented brother who I wish much success for. But like you I moan when I see all these brothers with women other then ones that look like their mothers. What does that truly say about them? When we as black women are with white men we are dogged by brothers.

Luv you chicka, keep doing you.
