Polish Boy Sub

Delish!

Super Bowl Sunday is just a few days away and Chef Gregby Camp from “Mickey Flickey’s Amazing Wings” is teaching us how to make one of Cleveland’s signature dishes, the Polish Boy.

The four basic ingredients are polish sausage, cole slaw, barbecue sauce and french fries. That sounds like heaven to us!

Keep reading for the Polish Boy sub recipe!

Ingredients:
A toasted 7″ steak of sausage bun
7-inch all-beef Polish sausage, preferably Kosher (each sausage is about 3 to 3 1/2 ounces)
Coleslaw
French Fries
Barbecue sauce (Mickey uses his secret-recipe sauce; viewers can use their own recipe or store-bought BBQ sauce)

Directions:
Deep fry the sausage for 4 to 6 minutes in 350º vegetable fry oil.
Remove sausage (don’t drain), then grill for 30 seconds on each side, just enough to dry the sausage.
Dip the sausage link (using tongs) into some barbecue sauce.
Place the BBQ covered sausage in a toasted bun.
Using a serving spoon, cover the sausage with creamy coleslaw.
Using tongs, cover coleslaw with french fries.
Using a 1 1/2 ounce ladle spoon, drizzle fries with BBQ sauce.

Serve and enjoy!

  2. Wendy, you know that sandwich ain’t right. That looks like a heart attack wrapped in a stroke. Please, do not consume more than one of those in a lifetime. It’s ok to try, but please do not make this a part of your diet. I love you and I want to see you live….stay safe. lol

  3. i cant wait to make these for super bowl! they look super delish! but oh no that was a bebes kid on stage! people are saying oh he was selling the product! no selling the product is not ripping down the decorations and playing in the sauce and interrupting wendy and his father while talking. i dont know about other people but my kids learned manners at the age of two and three and that was a straight up bebes kid! lol

  4. Hey Wendy………….how you doin?!!!!!! Saw your show today and it was great as usual! I knew about these Polish Boys now for about 10-11 years as I used to go to Cleveland with my ex-best friend then. The first time I had one of these, I couldn’t wait to go back up there to get more……..lol. Anyway, I learned how to make these myself for my family at home and I felt Chef Camp’s sauce was way toooooo thin for the sandwich. My sauce is thicker as it makes everything stick together better but, that is my opinon. I’m sure his sandwich is the bomb though! Enjoy it on Super Bowl Sunday as I will be making them since the kids watched your show with me and begged me to make them as well Sunday.

I can’t believe Mickey Flickey or the other fellow from Cleveland didn’t tell you about the “polish girl”. It is the same sandwich with pork shoulder on the sandwich, too. It is delicious.
I had my first polish boy in Nashville ,Tennessee inthe mid sixties. All the little barbecue joints offered a polish boy.

  11. Hey Wendy. I live a block away from Mickey Flickeys Amazing Wings so I go there quite often. The Polish Boy is very good and it comes in two sizes Regular and Jumbo. The wings are very good also. I’m glad you got to try it.

  16. Hey Wendy!

My dad is from Cleveland, OH and when we were younger, he used to make a Polish Boy Sub that they made there. Only it went like this:

    -Deep fried Polish
    -French Fries
    -Chili (no beans)
    -Bun
Put the Polish in the bun. Add any condiments you want (ketchup, mustard, onions etc), optional. Cover with fries and chili.

Whoever eats this may want to beware of a heart attack, lol! But they are delish! Wonder if he sells these at Micky Flicky’s?

    Enjoy!

  17. I had no problem with the little boy. Wendy’s show is a fun show to watch and very down to earth, so the child being there was ok.

Any who, that Polish boy sub look good and i will be trying it.

  18. This segment was great although I was more interested in the shinanigans that the little three year old had! Wendy you hung in there and if you don’t watch out little man might be your replacement, just kiddin! Great entertainment and food looked interestingly good too!

  20. HeyYou guys… while reading Wendy’s superbowl favorites I noticed a word was spelled totally wrong… “liversworth”…. as posted here… the correct spelling is liverwurst. I was dying laughing!
