  2. Interesting take on talking to your children and dealing with them when they are in the middle of a tantrum. Once when my daughter was about 5 or 6, we were in a pet store. My daughter had a tantrum when I wouldn’t buy her a turtle. She laid on the floor in the middle of the store, pounded the floor with her hands and feet, and wouldn’t stop screaming. No talking would calm her down. So I said “fine, stay her and have a fit … I’m leaving.” I departed the store and stood by the outside door peering in at her. Once she realized I wasn’t watching her, she suddenly stopped and walked out the door to find me. Just one way to stop this tantrum.

Another time, I was in line at a store and my daughter was screaming for a toy by the register because I said no. After the whole experience of this entire day at the store, I lost my finally lost my temper. The sound of a “swat” on her diaper stopped this tantrum. A young woman behind me said “I’ll NEVER spank my child” whereby I asked her if she had any children of her own to which she replied NO. I said, “once you have your own children and have to deal with the ‘terrible twos’, look me up and tell me that you never once swatted your child in the ass. That shut up that yuppie.

  4. Hi Wendy,

How You Doin! Love your new t.v. show! I’m also one of your past radio fans. I miss hearing you on the radio – it’s not the same without you – but I’m so happy that you’ve finally reached your ultimate goal as a t.v. talk show host – very inspiring story.

The segment with Dr. Robi Ludwig on Monday about how to talk with your child about heavy and sometimes frightening news topics was great. Here is a brand new link that parents and students will find interesting. It’s called News-Basics
(http://news-basics.com/) and the publisher/writer’s (author Mike Laser) main goal is to break down heavy news topics in to an easy to digest format for children. I’m going to let my 10 year old daughter and 13 year old son use it and I’ll also be referring it to their teachers this fall when school starts. It will be helpful tool in the classroom. Please spread the word. I learned about this new web site through MEWS (Montclair Editors and Writers) – I’m a member.

By the way, I’m happy to see that your new episodes are finally airing! I was getting tired of re-runs and wanting more. Keep up the great work! Have a Happy Birthday! Enjoy the rest of the summer.

    Best regards,
