Hi Wendy,
The only African American housewife on DH I would accept has got to be either Vanessa Williams or Victoria Rowell (Drucilla) ! Either of those two would bring FIRE to Wisteria Lane !

Hey Wendy,
I notice a few people mention that Vanessa L. Williams could play on DH, I think she would be a good addition to the show (if the story line is right).
It’s funny they brought her up, because I think I notice Vanessa’s mother in the audience during this segment. Right after you mention the 50 year old character, the camera went to the audience [I believe she was the lady (with the printed top) sitting behind the white lady].
If that’s not her, she really looks like Vanessa’s mom.
Love your show (especially Hot Topics), keep up the good work

Wendy, I am a big fan I tivo you everyday. You look fabulous!!! In response to Desperate Housewives, I think it is about time. Primetime is lacking in the image of a sexy beautiful black woman. Desperate Housewives has had a few black women portraying a prostitute and a housekeeper. Or course the very talented Alfre was given a ridiculous storyline. With so many attractive black women, why is it we see only one type on television. Also, Wendy I absolutely hated the “head scarf” joke! We are seen as undesirable, so, why add to the unfair unbalanced image of a black woman. This is my mission, my passion to change the way we look at ourselves, thus, changing the way others see us. You are great and I agree with most of what you say with ther exception of anything r/t Kim K. Please remove her from your flowers! I just do not get your fascination.

Wendy,
I am SOOOOOOOO glad you are back!!!!
I did want to comment about the woman who adopted a child from Russia and sent him back. I saw a special on PBS (I think) about these children who are adopted from Russian orphanages and it seems as if many, many of these children have serious emotional problems. A woman on that program had opened a place for these kids who were adopted by American parents and became so violent and unreachable. So, I just wanted to mention there are 2 sides to every story.

Hey Wendy,
I’m sitting here watching your talk show and you mentioned a black DH…. Hmmm interesting!!! Anyway the first black actress that popped in my head was Stacey Dash, hey shes not in her thirties, but she can definently pass for one. I think she will be a perfect fit and give that Eva Longoria a run for her money honey…
Love ya Wendy

Dear Ms. Williams,
I was personally offended when you said with such disgust that the new DH’s Black character’s name would be Althea. Well, my name is Althea and I’m not quite sure what your disgust is all about? Althea is a greek name and is also listed in the dictionary described as an herb. Althea is NOT some ghetto name, which I interpreted your reaction to it as such. Althea is not a name that was some how made up like many we hear in the Black community. Names that can’t be spelled or pronounced by the children who hold them. As a 60 year old Black woman, I have always been very proud that I didn’t have to share my name with the countless Marys, Pats, Debbies, Carols, and even Wendys – that we hear ALL of the time. My mother first heard the name Althea on a radio soap opera in 1949. That was the name of the radio character who played a doctor, and she was not portraying a Black woman. I am a new viewer of your show, but today I was so hurt by your reaction to my name, that I have to give you up. I am not a “thin-skinned” person, but that really hurt. Althea is not a common name, but recently I have seen more and more women with the name. In fact, during last season’s “Project Runway” one of the show’s finalist, a young white woman, was named Althea.
So again, what is your problem Ms. Williams with the name Althea? Why are YOU so offended and “put-out”?

“How you doing” Mrs. Wendy Williams? Well I must say we as black indivisuals need to stop reading into too much of what white people intentions are. Sometimes we search for faults that are not there, but i do understand where your coming from.I love you, and I love your show.

Oh that’s cool but what happened to Alfre’s character? And wouldn’t it be a hoot if she was a ghetto hot mess with a little Dominique Deveruax…sorry I spelled it wrong flare to her?

I think this is an attempt to capitalize on the very lucrative high ratings Atlanta Housewives has attatined…infusing that flavor with an already popular show…problem is (you hit it Wendy) they have not been able to do it right. Perhaps if there were some true diversity in Hollywood (and maybe some black writers on staff) they would be able to do better than a “outside looking in” perspective.
Good luck nonetheless..I’m always happy when people of color can work in Hollywood since there are not enough roles for us already. The failed attempts or “tests” on the show are very telling and they need to do better.
PS You look fab..stay blessed and keep up the amazing work!
