i disagree with the previous comment that someone made. it’s not that people are trying to bring down “the Skinny” while up lifting the big girls. we are just stating fact, people are quicker to down grade larger women then smaller women because like it or not big figures are not socially accepted. i applaude the up roar for larger ladies cause its about damn time !!!

On your website there is a statement about leave the sample size at O and allow skinny girls to love themselves too. I dont think anyone is trying to take anything away from skinny girls I feel that ALL WOMEN of ALL sizes need to be embraced. Especially when it comes to fashion. I work in retail and know for a fact that ALL women want to be fashionable, but it seems like designers forget that, Is it that its cheaper to design for 0s… you know less fabric?!?.Remember when Cindy Crawford and Tyra modeled… they were average. Last weeks Project Runway was disturbing because the designers had to design for REAL women and almost ALL of them had issues. And verbalized it saying that they are not use to designing for any size outsize of 0-2. Not hating on skinny girls but what about the rest of us above size 2, the 6s 10s etc. They all shop and should be included in fashion.

I get what you’re saying, and indeed there are girls that are naturally skinny, however: are those enough to fill the industry? Cause not all skinny girls are interested/able to get into modeling.
So you’ll have pretty girls who’re not naturally skinny starving themselves to fit the sample size that comes naturally to only so few. On top of that practically every new generation gets taller than the last one. I’m taller than my mom. Doesn’t logic then naturally follow that my feet, hips and shoulders are bigger too? At 6ft / 140lbs / shoe size 9 1/2, I’m definately not a size 0, but I don’t want to lose more weight either cause that makes me look seriously ill. My cheek, jaw and collarbone would stick out ugly. How much longer can size 0 be maintained without endangering that very impressionable group of young girls trying to make it?

Big is beautiful but the reality is there is not enough full figured women representing us in a taste full manor, instead of saying if skinny girls do it we can do it too we should be setting the bar for skinny women. We as full figured women have to except that that is what we are and accommodate our size with our clothing. We can not wear what skinny girls are wearing unless you can afford a good taylor and some spanx

Obviously, she didn’t get the memo…LMAO. Wendy didn’t downgrade being skinny. She stated the fact that the average woman isn’t skinny. I believe the average size is 10-12 right now. I think models should reflect the average woman. There should be women of all sizes gracing the runway. I’m a size 10, 5’10. In an identical dress, I look totally different than a woman that’s a size 2, no titties, or cushion. Big or small, embrace the woman within and love yourself ~Tiffany

to reply to the SKINNY Girl .. you must be a struggling model huh? n what world do u live n that the average YES average girl is a size 0 come on be realistic an average person is a size 4-8 NOT a 0 ….. so dont hate on the big girls or the average girls….. look at the people around… n yes u may be naturally skinny n im glad for u but if ur trying to sell something or reach a group of people u msut have an apeal to them n relate to them and a size 0 is not normal to the majority of people ….. so lets concentrate on other bigger issues n let other have the spot lite n not just look at spines n bones sticking out but to look at the details n craftmanship of the clothes n not the rail thin model…. fashion come n different size n styles so why not show it

I don’t know why the person below me is getting mad. I never heard them down grade “skinny people”!!! The sample sixe should not be a size 0 have you not been listening to the news. America is no longer a “skinny” place. There are alot more plus size people. Why not let the other people be able to fit into some nice things like you like!! Get over it skinny just isnt in anymore!!! Time to get healthly for all the people who got unhealthly trying to fit in!! I’m not saying get plus size either just get healthly!!!

It’s fitting that I this is the first time I’ve seen this show and I couldn’t stop staring at Wendy! She is beautiful! Just went through the pictures on the website and all I can say is THANK YOU for bringing pantyhose back!
Plus size girls rule, just make sure you live a healthy lifestyle. There’s definitely good plus size (like on the Cover of New York mag) and bad plus size with one too many folds!

I agree with one thing. Not hating on someone cuz of their size. Everything else pp said is dumb. Why should sample size stay at zero? Why can’t plus size and straight size model together?
Wednesday February 17th, 2010 at 5:26 pm
Um to the person above me, the one that says we’re “hating” skinny girls, obviously you aren’t getting the point. People are being criticized for not being skinny, for simply being themselves. Wendy didn’t say anything against skinny women she simply said stop attacking Christina for her size. The Sample size shouldn’t stay at a zero because seriously how many women are walking around are actually a size zero? Models included. Those girls aren’t all a size 0 anymore. She’s not promoting bigness, she’s promoting being comfortable with your size no matter what is. So PLEASE STOP saying we are hating on skinny women, because I have always said I want to be healthy not skinny. Skinny doesn’t always mean healthy and happy and neither does big. But either way a person can be healthy and happy.

being big is fine, IF you are healthy! Praising big girls for being big is one thing, but condoning an unhealthy diet is not right either. Same thing applies to thin girls as well.

Its not the fact of complaining of the sample size its the fact that hollywood and model industrys need a reality check . Most models dont even look like how they look in pictures. Because the photo gets retouched and gives them a perfect body i dont think they should change the sample size but they should have all different types of sizes for the different body types there is in the real world. Big girls like to keep up with fashion too!!

Christina Hendricks has an awesome figure. Big breasted and curvy hips, whats wrong with that??? It’s not anyone’s fault that clothes just fit a pin thin person better than someone that would fill up the space, the modeling industry needs people that can get in and out of clothes quickly, so they choose people that have no figure. Anyway either way love yourself because if you dont no one else will..Love you Wendy!!! And by the way theres a line between being skinny and being fat…give it up to the thick girls!!!!!!!!!!!! =)

First of all zero like hello that is skinny and unhealthy and I think the point here is to show the pressure of being skinny. Your making look like the sample size for being skinny is zero. Well hello yep your a model as you skinny models aren’t to well you know, I wont say it.
Why cant a sample size be 7 which is small but to your world its big oh god forbid your boss wants you be 7 and healthy, you might look curvy.
Do you even eat or are you allowed to. If your big and people like you then have the guts to say, you want me as a model then I will eat and be comfortable at a size 7 or whatever.
Zero yea right , that’s like looking at a skeleton in history class to learn parts of a body.
I think if your upset about what is said about being skinny then your unhappy and doing it only cause your told to. These employers that want there models skinny but gee there a size 7 and up well these are the ones to blame for all this peer pressure. If it was me I would be saying like me don’t like me to bad. I am a size 9 , so I guess to your so called world that is big. Get a life

I think it’s a shame that people look at bigger girls in a negative way! I’m big and always have been, when i was younger people used to call me the big eight year old. In the midst of the many cruel things people say they don’t understand what you could be doing to a persons self-esteem. Thankfully I have grown up and learned to embrace my body and I love every part of me. To all my big girls out there, I’d like to say….YOUR WORTH THE WEIGHT
…oh yea and “How You Doin??”

I agree with her. I am plus size, but I think that whenever people try to ‘big’ up themselves, they treat the other people like dirt. It’s a double standard. Us big girls don’t like to be judged and called names, so why call the skinny girls names? Just love YOUR body, and love life
Woot woot.

I totally agree with the prior comment….I have been a follower of you Wendy since your Power 99 days in Philly. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Im a tiny girl (5’4 120lbs) and I love myself. NEVER have I dieted, I dont exercise, and just gave birth to twins 15months ago. Im sure I eat more than most of my “bigger” friends. I was blessed with a fast metabolism. It always offends me when bigger women try to make us tiny girl seem inferior. Monique is guilty of this as well. If big is beautiful than why are big girls always on a diet trying to get “skinny”? Why not just accept yourself being big? Stop hating on us tiny girls!! BUT if we “hate” on big girl..we are just wrong…and thats just not right….be big and proud of it…stop putting us skinny girls down…
“Im just saying”
xoxoxo

No we don’t “get you” person above me!
Wednesday February 17th, 2010 at 4:55 pm
I agree Wendy, and the person above, they don’t degrade skinniness, a person who is skinny is less likely to be picked on, size should not matter, people try to live up to magazine image, but people will never be satisfied within themselves if they don’t realize that beauty is not about being flawless but being who you are, a person’s imperfections separates them from the next person!

i get the whole big girls being proud of big girls thing but at the same time if you can be proud of being big then let us skinny people and models be proud of that! not all of us get skinny in a unhealthy manner! if you want to model as a big person then do plus size..otherwise stop trying to downgrade skinny as you promote bigness. just be big and proud without hating on skinny! the sample size should stay at zero and if you are so proud of being big the dont complain about the sample size! get me?!
