Katie Couric is in the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar, on newsstands now, and is talking about everything, including her relationship with a guy 17-years her junior.
Katie says she doesn’t like the term “cougar” and Wendy doesn’t like it either.

I don’t find anything wrong with dating a younger man. I feel if he is mature enough, can communicate, and makes you feel like a woman its nothing wrong with it. After all age s nothing but a number if we weren’t told when we were born in the beginning this wouldn’t even be a factor.

Basically, it’s like this. When you are in your twenties, older men are attracted to you and vice versa. Older men tend to have their sh….. together and are done “macking”. They appreciate the time they spend with you and are willing to bend over backwards to please you. As women get older, I am 36…they tend to want to settle down and are focused more on their lives and their children. Take better care of their bodies, workout more, and younger men flock to that because that shows volumes of maturity. Their younger counterparts are caught up with the hype of fabulosity and bling bling that they miss the whole relationship. Ithink younger men find older women more confident and secure. If I were single, I definately would be on radar for a younger beau….a young guy of 25 approached me just last week…….and cougar is a sexy term Katie..enjoy the compliment…..

Not much of a Katie fan, but my feeling is that dating a younger guy really has to depend on the age range and the maturity level of the guy. You know women mature at a faster rate than guys and it is hard to discuss say the motown sound and the guy is saying who dat???? I am 56 and I would probably go as low as 50. Now on the other hand, I know some really great older men, still in shape, still loving to party and go out, and have checked their baggage 6 feet under, well that’s my type of guy.

I agree with Katie, but why is it that it is such a big deal for older women to date younger men but older men can date younger women and there’s nothing wrong it; ex: George Clooney, Mel Gibson, Tom Cruise; these guys, especially Mr. Clooney, get praised for dating younger women….. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS. Now, I’m 19 but when I hit that delicate so-called “cougar” age, if I’m not married and my equipment still works, then I’m all for dating a younger man. It’s 2010 people, live a little and date alot, you go Katie

Good for Katie. To me age is nothing but a number that you hate as it gets higher. Love is Love and as long there is Respect, Truthfulnes, and everything else that love is.

To each their own, however, when you have grown young men of your own or younger boys, you seem to think differently about women who date younger men. How would you like an older woman to date your 18 or 19 year old at her 40?

i agree wen, cause im gettin older too and all that approaches me are these young 19-27 year olds….it scares me cause i wonder what they are seeing that i dont…here i am 30 something and im checkin id’s n stuff. i can totally understand katies point of view…..although i think that being called a cougar is a sexy thing……

Hi Wendy and the show, I was ready to watch your show on Monday and to my surprise it was not on? It came on everyday at 2:00pm central time in Lincoln, NE. I’ve looked again for the rest of the week and no Wenday the show channel was kxvo which is 15 for us. Will your show be back on during daytime hours?
It was just part of my day to make sure I watched I still get to see the show on BET at 11:00 pm every night and thats what I will done now. I was just sorry to not see in on at 2 maybe that station decided that well sorry for them. I put this comment here I did not no where else to leave. Thank you

Good for Katie, she is intitled to have happiness no matter what age her partner is. She is a georgeous woman and should be able to have a relationship that works for her.
