Gay Super Bowl Ad Controversy
How you doin’?
Last week Wendy told us about the controversy surrounding Tim Tebow’s pro-life Super Bowl ad that CBS will air this Sunday, and today played a commercial for a gay men dating site, that CBS rejected.
Hear Wendy’s take on both of these ads and what she thinks about CBS rejecting the Man Crunch 30 second spot!
Tell Us: Do you think CBS should air this ad in the Super Bowl, or do you support their decision?

I agree, IF you can afford to pay for an ad you should be allowed to have it aired! NOW, this ad, I just don’t like! It seems to mock the relationship (if it IS a relationship). It’s silly. I think the writer’s for the ad agency should be fired! The idea of a gay dating service is a good one and it should be portrayed in a classy/fun manner. Hetero commercials for dating sites are done tastefully, I think GAY dating website commercials should do the same. I don’t oppose the website at all!

IN RESPONSE to the person who posted something about the Lord? You need to tell all those female preachers to shut up, then, because if you’re going exactly by the book WOMEN SHOULD BE SILENT in the churches and they’re suppose to submit to men. THEREFORE, if a woman can preach, then, a man can be a helpmate to another man. We all seem to draw our parallels. PEACE.

i’m glad i was able to see the ad on your show, Wendy. THANKS! people try to turn their heads the other way, but they KNOW FOR A FACT that there are so many dudes that find more fun with other dudes. lets face it, more and more Sisters are single FOR A REAL REASON. hate me if you want, but i’ve never met a “straight” Brother in my life, honest to God. PEACE.

I BELIEVE THAT A STATION SHOULD BE FAIR TO ALL AND BALANCED! I DO WISH I COULD HAVE SOME SORT OF NOTIFICATION ON MAJOR ADULT SUBJECTS FOR MY KIDS SAKE. UNLIKE THE NON NOTIFICATION I GOT WHILE WE WATCHED JANET JACKSON’S BOOB PULLED OUT BY TIMBERLAKE! WE WERE ALL WATCHING AT THE TIME. I SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO EDUCATE MY KIDS NOT THESE COMMERCIALS. WE ARE ALL BIAS IN SOME SORT OF WAY OR ANOTHER BUT AFRAID TO ADMIT IT!!!!

Jesus christ is coming back really soon so people get ready for his 2nd coming. God made man for woman and woman for man. Anyone who is gay NEEDS to repent for their sins. Before its to late. Tomorrow don’t belong to us. ONLY the Pure Hearted will enter heaven. Satan came to kill steal and destroy. All that gayness is from satan. People we need to pray for this country more that ever. Jesus loves you. Just call out to him. God bless you all.

Wow… just watched the superbowl ad, n I say don’t air it! I’m a married mother of one, n that is not n advertisement I would be comfortable with my child seeing, during a commercial break 4 the superbowl. I’m a devout Christian who thinks that airing something like that would be completely tasteless, n disgusting. In my opinion, there’s nothing appealing about 2 men going at it. These companies have to realize, just because you have the money to do so, doesn’t mean that u should

Right on Wendy! Who cares? If they had no problem showing a homophobic Snickers ad last year, are willing to show an anti-abortion Focus on the Family ad this year, why the hell is that ad against their rules and regulations? Seems like a total case of discrimination to me. CBS should be ashamed, especially considering the current advertising climate – one would think they’d be thrilled to get another $2 million dollars from ANYONE. But in all honesty, the real winner of this saga is Mancrunch. They are getting tons and tons of free publicity while CBS gets labeled as homophobic and partisan. What a stupid decision on CBS’s part!

I feel like it’s fine, and should to be played!! It is a new day; people should stop being worried about who someone else loves. Love is Love point blank. Gay people have always been around, and we’re not going anywhere!! So the world better get used to it. They show commercials of women and men kissing, us gay guys need love too!! How YOU doin? ;•)

Hey Wendy. How yaauu doin?
LOVE LOVE LOVE your show. Sadly, not shown here until midnight on BET. This man needs to get up early in the morning.
When I first read about this ad being rejected I was furious. Rightly so I think. To be honest though, when I finally saw the video I was in a way glad.
I am still angry with CBS for playing the Morality Gods. This is just as bad as the whole Adam Lambert fiasco.
What made me glad about it not being shown was how bad the ad is. Couldn’t they have made a better ad? Design the ad for better response. As a gay man, I would never have used their service for such a poorly put together commercial. They had a great opportunity to make history, but instead of making a good commercial, they went with the gay schtick and sterotype.
Why not have two men meeting at a sports bar on their first date, and the game is on? I know my friends drink beer, eat wings and watch sports on tv. Perhaps at the end of the date they could have gotten the all important goodnight kiss? THAT would have been a great ad if ou ask me.
I guess in the end though it doesn’t matter because CBS is deciding what is moral and what isn’t.
Sending you lots of luuurve,
Jamie

There is nothing wrong with that ad….I think it is quite funny..but you know how it goes when it comes to gayness and sponsors……they are still in the closet………..

Okay so Wendy this is m,y take on the Superbowl ad..as a gay man n hearing that a gay Man and hearing about cbs not airing it, makes me kind of mad because I feel the gay community is being dicriminated against. Why can black, Latino, etc nationalities and straight dating services get an ad but not a gay one. if that dating ad doesn’t get the air time, then the other dating sites shouldn’t be aired either. Make it fair cbs!

Publishing a pro-life ad and rejecting a Gay Dating Site? That’s certainly hyprocritcal. Both are bold statements, and they should be allowed to be aired! Society is so backwards.

Im not being funny or nothing but I have to make sure everything that my kids watch is right for their age and I don’t want them watching a men and a women kiss let alone two guys kissing. I have two sons and they love sports can we get back to sport the super bowl is just getting out of hand with tits{Janet} and every thing. I have enough to explian to my boy about the birds and the bees. Now I have to add the bees and the bees and the bird and birds to my list. Omg

Wendy I love you for being so supportive about the gay AD for superbowl sunday. I like the fact that you brought up that it is not being racist, or hurting anyone. I really believe that someone who finds something wrong with that AD is very ignornant. How you doing Wendy?
Monday February 1st, 2010 at 1:22 pm
I see nothing wrong with the commerical. To me it has become a social norm. If we can watch commercials on older white men and there Viagra issues, then the same should apply to this dating commercial.

Honesty I don’t think the company expected CBS to approve the ad, it’s cheaply done for 2 million dollar tv spot. (with no celebrities) i think thing this is more for publicity which the media is giving this company for free… Brilliant, Now I need to come up with 2 million dollar add for my photography biz. and make it so hot it get’s rejected
… now the surprise would have been if CBS would have accepted the ad…. and the company would have come up with 2 million
