Yes, it's absolutely OK to nurse a baby wherever the mother and baby are. Lots of people talk about the mother's right to breastfeed, which is important, but most important is the BABY. A baby's stomach is as big as her fist. She needs to eat often, and she can't read a clock or know she's in public or wait.

I was a breastfeeding mother when I had babies. No matter where it is when a baby gets hungry, a baby should be fed but mother should be discreet and cover up as much as possible. I did it just about anyplace but discreetly.

I was very, very upset when I saw this on your show, Wendy. I'm a Breastfeeding Educator, and I'm also a Program Specialist at the Health Department in Kansas City, Kansas (WIC Program). They got alot of nerves. That was that baby's source of food. Whoever escorted her out, they should try not eating when they are hungry. If this mom is needing support in any kind of way, tell her I will have her back and i'm not way back. Wendy, also I'm loving your show. Hopefully, i can visit it one day. Keep up the good work. I love the guest you have and most of all I love the Hot Topic, Lol. You have a bless day, this is from Ms. Mookie in Kansas City, Kansas. When I see you, I will say, "How You Doin."

Yes, breastfeeding is natural but having a breast exposed is not natural. When breastfeeding one can still be tactful, no excuse to expose. So Target was absolutely correct in their actions...Mary just sounds like an exhibitionist.

I Love you Wendy!!!

My daughter Jillian (23) who is an advocate for breastfeeeding my beautiful granddaughter Morgan (9 months who has never had a bottle or pacifier). Let me say my daughter breastfeeds with a cover anywhere she goes. Her friends and our family disagree with public breastfeeding, but it doesn't bother my daughter. To share we attended the Bayou Classic in New Orleans, LA this year my
granddaughter was hungry my daughter covered popped it out breastfeed in front of thousands of people. She loves the bond between her and baby. I support my daughter she is a wonderful mother and to all the breastfeeding mothers do what is best for your child don't let anyway stop you. So hats off to Mrs. Mary Martinez!!!!!

The other day I was nursing my 9 month old baby in a Sears dressing room when the employee working in the department near the dressing room came in and asked me what I was doing and proceeded to stare at me feeding my baby and shook her head and walked away. She was an older women and I asked her if there was a problem and she hesitated before she said no. I do not think I could have been any more discreet and I would think she would understand. It was dissappointing since there is nothing wrong with anyone nursing their babies in public. It is as normal as eating a sandwich in public. We do not ask anyone to eat there lunch in a bathroom or dressing room so why do our nursing babies have too?

I nursed my daughter in Target, JC Penny's, Ross, and even at Disneyland. (with a blanket covering the goods of course) I wish someone would have said something to me at the time. I probably would have sprayed them, not really. That Mom was taking care of her child's needs. When I'm in a store and I hear babies crying I wonder why their parents' are not trying to calm them. Here this mom is caring for her child and being penalized for it, pure ignorance no compassion. Shame on Target
