First Lady Fashion.

President Obama made history when he became the first African American elected president of the United States and First Lady Michelle Obama is leaving her own mark on our country.

Not only is she the Mom-in-Chief, but Michelle Obama has proven herself to be a fierce fashionista.

InStyle magazine senior editor Isabel Gonzales Whitaker shows us how to get Michelle Obama’s look.

Check out these First Lady looks!

cardigan

Bold Cardigan: Look for thinner weaves that won’t add bulk.
The new business chic swaps restrained suit jackets for spirited sweaters, often belted at the waist, and paired with a classic white shirt, with a feminine touch of ruffles. Completing the ensemble in true First Lady style is a textured pencil skirt. The knee-length may be simple, but the fabric is quite the opposite in a rich tweed with a punch of color.

sheath

Bright Sheath: Deeper hues transition well for fall and winter months.
A vibrant dress, in a classic body-skimming shape of a sheath dress, is the ultimate figure flatterer. First Lady Michelle Obama often pairs hers with a gorgeous statement brooch, but on this particular dress the adornment is actually part of the sheath.

Cropped Blazer with Pants: Choose a jacket with a form fitting shape for easy belting.
The traditional blazer is updated in a chic cropped version of the classic. A belt brings shape to the silhouette, and adds punch in a metallic tone.

long_white_coat

Long Coat: Coordinate coat with what you are wearing underneath for added polish.
A clean-line coat that falls at the knee makes a tasteful statement. Combine it with a coordinating dress or skirt for pulled-together polish.
