Wendy Goes Back to School!

Giving back to school kids in need.

For the month of September, the “Wendy Show” audience donated school supplies to the students at Asbury Park Middle School in New Jersey where Wendy lived until she was 5-years old.

We packed up all the school supplies and delivered them to Asbury Park.

Wendy even dropped by to surprise the kids!

  1. Hey Wendy,

I like what you did for the school.

I must say that the way you dressed to attend that school was grossly inappropriate. Yes, you might want to show off your stuff but next time you are going to a school and also as a mother, dress for the occasion.

  2. What a touching display of kindness. Just beautiful.

  3. How ya doin? Wendy
I’ve never emailed talkshows or hosts, however, in this case, I felt the need to do so.
I’ve been watching your show for the past couple of weeks and I must say that you’re a breath of fresh air.
I am a native of Asbury Park myself – lived on Sunset Avenue and attended Bradley School back in the 60′s and graduated from APHS in 72. I was surprised to learn that you lived on Central Avenue and attended the Middle School. I just wanted to say that I was impressed with your generosity and words of encouragement to the students at the Middle School.
    Keep up the good work.
    Sylvia

  11. It is wonderful to see you are helping schools in Asbury Park. How nice to see that you are still caring in spite of your success. I love your show and your honesty. Don’t change Would like to comment on Jon and Kate. I hope Jon follows through with keeping his children off camera. Its enough. She is really interest in a career more than the children. Do you remember the episode where her son was sick and vomiting? It seemed she was more concerned about the “things” carpeting etc. than the sick child. I don’t know what others think about her bossing Joh around, I think it was a bit much. It may just have been written that way for the show. You think????

  13. Hi Wendy, I love your show, still trying to get there, hope you are not mad that I was critical of “hot topics”. I apologize for being critical of the gossip. Also wanted to add, The Asbury Middle School is a BEAUTIFUL thing. Your visit brought tears to my eyes, as I watched those kids look at you in awe and saw you tear up. Also the young lady who is a breast cancer patient. I can emphathize with her because my sister went through the same thing a couple of years ago, had a masectomy, and she is a survivor, Thank God. P. S. My 1st husband grew up in Brownsville, the same Bklyn hood your hubby Kevin is from–I was widowed from him at age 31 but have a beautiful son to carry on his legacy. I grew up in BedStuy and Wmsburgh, and now live in NJ, so I have a little something in common with you, LOL. Stay Blessed Wendy!!!!

  14. Lady! Right on!! Right on!! Education is so important. And it’s nice to know that you’re not just….mean sometimes (I read about you on wikipedia, and I was kind of disappointed that you hurt certain individuals feelings but I guess it’s part of the job.), Inspite of that, you are funny always, and definitely informative. I love your hot topics.

Any who, as I was saying education is so important, and people don’t get it, and I’m talking about the young and old. Luckily I got it. Without my college education, I don’t think I would have ever left Canton, Ohio, and became everything I am, in Seattle. Education empowers one, and it’s the one thing no man can take away from you, and it teaches you “how” to think, and how to make calculated moves to reach your goal. It also teaches you discipline, which is definitely necessary for one to be successful. I preach this to my nephews when I visit Canton, and always to my neighbor kids. And I hope you continue to preach the educational gospel – you are truly doing God’s work.

That being said, and this being for the record, I LOVE YOU!!! I’ve watched you for the last two weeks, right before I go to work. And believe it or not, I’ve even dreamed about you last. We were key-keying about something, but I can’t remember what. Bottom-line you are my friend in my dreams. I don’t know when, but I will definitely be making a pilgrimage to New York to see your show. I will most likely be during my book tour for my first book, “Burning Chopin”(It’s my real-life version of the “Burning Bed”. I have two editors/friends helping me through the process. And I will have a completed product by the end of the year. And God willing, I want to have it published and released by spring. If you are interested, I would love to send you a copy of the completed manuscript, so you can give me some constructive criticism. Let me know.

    And again…GIRL, YOU ARE FABULOUS!!!!

    Forever Your Fan,

    Truly Yours,

    Eddie Walker

  15. OMG…Wendy..Just when I think I could not love and respect you more, you,to my liking, turn around and makes a liar out of me.As I watched this segment of your show, I was truly moved to tears.Girlfiend I started before you even arrived at the school. The joy on those children’s faces as they awaited your arrival was so wonderful. The words that you gifted them with were few,but Oh so Powerful.I have bumped you from my girlfriend in my head….to my sister in my head.(It takes a lot to get that spot.) smiles.I am so proud of you. You are such a beautiful person, inside and out.You are someone that understands that love is not just talked about,it is shown. To those children you were this huge star from tv. that came to their school, because you loved them, and their little faces were saying….I Love You Back.It was truly something to see.Thank-you Wendy for taking me on that part of your journey with you.You are so awesome.May God continue to guide and bless you ten-fold.
    Much Love,
    Sandi

  16. I cried too Wendy! What a wonderful act of kindness!!

  17. Wendy, I am so proud of you. There are so few people of color who even remember where they grew up. It is usual close that door on the past and move to the mansion. Thank you for keeping it real with the children and telling them about direction in their lives. We all must talk to and give a hand up to the generations coming behind us. ‘How you doin?’ You are doing well!!!

  18. I was so happy to see you had tears, thats because I had them too. Wendy, I moved from NJ to Chicago, I miss my east coast family so much. Your energy and smile just make my day…I am just home sick and I want you to know you make me feel at home an hour a day…

    Sandra

  19. I am so happy to see you setting such a good example for those who make it and don’t forget. I work with so many talented kids on ages 5 to 19 who work hard to save lives from Cancer & AIDS, Domestc Violence, Drugs and Missing Children prevention. They sometimes get discouraged because they have too struggle as well. Thanks to people like you who help remind us to not give up doing for others the blessings come everyday. I am a Cancer survivor twice and KIDS & TEENS S.A.V.E.D 4 Life are my children and yours. See you on TV and youtube/kidssaved. god bless you!

  20. Hi Wendy:

How are you doing? The part of the show when you went to the New Jeresy middle school was truly touching. Those children really received you very well. Take care of yourself and stay safe.

    Love and Peace Always!!!

    Jason
