Wendy Goes Back to School!
Giving back to school kids in need.
For the month of September, the “Wendy Show” audience donated school supplies to the students at Asbury Park Middle School in New Jersey where Wendy lived until she was 5-years old.
We packed up all the school supplies and delivered them to Asbury Park.
Wendy even dropped by to surprise the kids!
Watch the wendyshow.com exclusive video of Wendy’s car ride to Asbury Park.

Hi Wendy! I’m a parent of one of the children at the asbury park middle school and i wanted to thank you very very much not only for the school supplies but for your words of wisdom. These kids NEED to know it’s more out there for them than these horrible streets. Your presents make it known that where u come from has nothing to do with where u are going! I’ve been a listener of yours since waaaaaaay back in the day so thank u sooooo very much! ohhh and HOW U DOOOOOIN? lol

Dear Miss LLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOVVVVEEELLLYYYY Wendy!!!!!!!!!!!! Please Help me as I cannot remember the name of the young black female soloist who appeared on your show approx. 2 weeks ago; You mentioned mispronouncing her name at the end of her electrifying 5 octive reange sounding performance, and the unique facial expressions she makes while interpreting her music. The young lady went on to correct anyone listening as to the correct pronunciation of her name as an African phrase meaning; to bring forth/ or to give. There were two lovely backup singers helping her to deliver the message, and after a kazillion attempts on the internet to find her, I gave up and am rap tap ever so respectfully tapping at your chamber door to rid me of my madness/oldstimer’s disease so I can go out and purchase this delightful voice on her CD, and turn my body lose trying to shake these old bones to that haunting refrain. Luv ya like combo fried rice, Albert!!!

Wendy,
This was such a touching segment. I loved that the kids knew all the words to your theme song. I’m sure most of them watch your show with their parents all the time, lol.

I am sure you have heard by now about the monthlong detainment of 6 young African Americans in the Caribbean island nation of Antigua and Barbuda.
They actually happen to be from Brooklyn, NY. For the past few days myself ,Kevin Powell and Congressman Ed Towns have been trying to resolve the matter. The Congressman had to return to D.C. for session, but Kevin Powell is still in Antigua as support of the family for the Antigua 6.
Please see the attached to get full picture of what has been happening. And please know the young people have been caught up in a very
serious game of political infighting down here. This matter should have been resolved long ago without myself, Congressional members, the State
Department, and others, getting involved.
Long story short, we are scheduled to have this matter done today, but the young people are being forced to pay approximately $3500 in fines. Myself and Kevin Powell have raised $2000 of it from a range of leaders, including Black elected officials from Brooklyn and the Rev. Al Sharpton. I’ve also got a call into Rev. Jackson’s office in Chicago.
Because time is of the essence, I am coming to you to see if you can offere your support with help of raising these funds as well. Any donations we receive will help in this matter. All the contributors are sending their $250 and $500 donations to one of the 6 detainees via Western Union:
Joshua Jackson
St. John’s Antigua
The goal is to get the young people back this week, and have a press conference first thing Friday morning Oct. 9, 2009 with a range of Black leaders and you. Much to discuss about this matter, including that of African American tourism trips to the Caribbean, etc.
I ask that all contributors please call/email once funds are transferred so I can make sure they are received. My contact info is below.
So we hope that we can depend on your support!!!

To Wendy, a big sister in my head. I am a little older than some of these people and remember you in Philadelphia. Honestly, I wasn’t a HUGE fan but you were always in my life one way or another. When I saw that you got a show I was really curious. I’ve been watching your show since day one. Messy, juicy, funny, and the show is great too. hahaha! I also read some stuff about you and you never realize that radio or TV personalities are real people too. I read a small part of your life, which I know you don’t have many secrets, and said “WOW, look at this Jersey girl go!!” Being from Jersey myself I felt proud like I would with my own sister. Keep doing what you’re doing for the communities and schools. OH and “HOW YOU DOIN’?

I love it when those who have made it go back and give to the community! I was crying from 1 minute into this clip, then I saw you crying at the end and felt better. I’m sitting here thinking Wow! how incredible is this full circle!! Keep doing what your doing Wendy!

Very good idea with donating school supplies to the school that you went to in New Jersey! And the piano player did a nice job playing the theme song away from the big slick production keyboard and electronics version we hear on TV so much. And for also visiting the school and meeting the students in person. They did a nice job on the pink colored Welcome sign too!

Wow! That was big Wendy. I have followed your career from New York, to Philly and back to New York again. I graduated from Asbury Park high school in 1994 and I am happy to know that someone like you (doing something with your life) has Asbury Park on their mind. This motivates me to give back also as my heart still goes out to my home town. Love you sis, How you doin’
