Considering the ratio. in the US of African-American men to woman, with the factor that from our 13% AA, US pop., approx 75% of our AA men are incarcerated, the search for a ‘quality’ life partner/ spouse/ or marriage eligible -main squeeze,… is NOT easy.
Many ’sistahs’ longing for the a ‘right one’ have standards for what they consider KEY: desireable, available, eligible, secure, positive self-esteem, confident, honest, non-egotistical, monogomous[perhaps-depending on mutual drives], AN INTEREST in a GENUINE BOND OF PERMANENCE.
Often seeing so many broken and damaged relationships whether such be from their own families or friends/relatives, the sistahs may not want to see areplication of weaknesses mirrored in their own personal lives. Human nature eing as it is, no one is perfect[ whatever that is] and nether can one project the future of ‘perfection’ deteriorating. Some sistahs fear for being emotionally and pyschologically hurt and taking time to ’screen’ out the possibilities is fine and this sister shouls not ubcumb to familial pressure. Afterall, she has to show that she can take full control of her choices-remembering that she’ll be livingw ith the consequences of the decisions that she makes.
Sh should NOT cave into pressure showing that she still does not have full control of her life even at her age. Finally, SHE SHOULD NOT SETTLE OUT OF DESPERATION EITHER, a negative too often ‘too many sistahs’ tolerate to legitimize parenthood.
GUUUUURRRRL, TAKE YOUR TIME TO MAKE IT RIGHT.

hey wendy & HOW U DOIN?? =D!!! i have a b.f.f.l (best friend 4ever life).& been best friends since we were 8 and now were 11. since she has been homeschooled 4 the 5th grade i feel thet we have grow aprt…. and we talk but not as much as we used 2. she is a great friend,a very loyal, honest, friendly person and i would like some advice on how we can stay friends even longer.becuse SHE is the FIRST true friend i’v had EVER other than my mom and my mom’s REALLY GREAT by the way. I totally agree with wendy s advice on this topic .I am also a 31 year old mom and right now myself and my daughters father live together but before my father started I was out dating a couple of people but I never let my family or friends know the people or the amount of people I was dating ,because it is none of their business,Because they can bve a bad influence on your life and also they can have a way of manipulating you into dealing with someone who is neccesary may not be good for you base on the information you tell them about a particulating individual you maybe dating.My advice take your time ,protect yourself and remember everybodies business and not always good business.

now i did not play the field and at my age which is 40 i wish i did. i have 3 kids dad is a deadbeat. i wanted to get married all my life it never happened. yeah kids but no husband. if i had of played the field i may have picked better and made better choices in men. i put all my eggs in one basket. never do that. never settle for the first man who comes along. leave your options open. i tell my kids to go to school and get that education. date and see what is out there first.i am in relationship now and i am just about tired. this man has no plans on getting married and lied to me about it. NOW i am ready to play the field because i missed out on alot of things because i was so busy trying to be some man’s wife and someones mother. yes i talk to other men regularly but never acted on anything.. but one day i will. i have been faithful throughout the relationship. seems like it was all in vain.. but now i am ready to do me. the kids are grown..
