The Battle of the Bulge
Wendy has struggled with weight all of her life.
She always says, “once a fattie, always a fattie” and fights every day to maintain her weight and eat a healthy diet.
During “Ask Wendy,” Diana told Wendy how she is struggling to lose weight, but doesn’t have the support of her family.
Tell Us: Do you struggle with your weight and body image? Can you relate to Diana and Wendy?

Wendy, i am 14, living in Cyprus, and i weigh 110kg… im 6ft and extremely athletic. from the age of 5 i was training in swimming proffessionaly. At 9 i was pancypriot champion, with the fastest time for my age group. I was on a strict diet plan, and stuck to it. At age 11 i had to drop out due to inner ear infection. At 11 1/2 i began basketball, which took me to the pancypriots for my age group and the age group above me. Last year i dropped out of that too, because i started discus throwing, which i was training to go to the pancypriots for. BUT, after my swimming, the weight piled on more. I was bullied at my old school, beaten up, and 4 years later i see my bullies at TGI friday having a laugh, and one comes up and says to me: “Hey its you. We kinda feel bad bout what we did to you, but it was your fault, you should’ve lost weight.” and i cant help but be mad at myself. Ever since the day that i started getting bullied, food has been my comfort. When loosing myself to a nice chocolate cake, i forget how i look… but then reality snaps back and i start to feel sick, sick of what i am and what i could become. And then i start thinking. should i really be mad at myself, should i hole up in my room and cry? or should i come to Wendy, my role model, the woman who inspires me and makes me want to get up in the morning. I ask you wendy. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Hi Wendy, I know by watching that you struggle with your weight, I am like everyother person is trying to loose weight, my oldest daughter, I also know that you lost a child my daughter and you have that in common she lost her son in February due to SIDS he would have been 1 on October 8th I really want to do this for her to help her get her self esteem back,We have been goning to Zumba on Tuesdays, but since she has started a new job she is not able to make Zumba on Tuesdays, so I added another day Saturday so we can still be there to motivate each other, I would appreciate any advice or assistance that you could offer, any food tips etc.

Wendy i relate so well to your reaction to being a “foodie.” I have fought this my whole life. I am 50 this year. I had a gastric bypass in “05″ and i lost 89 pounds. I did really good for 2 yrs. I regained 15 pounds during the first 4 yrs but this last year i have gained 15 pounds and its so discouraging. Its all bad habits. They have sneaked back up on me. “Tootsie Rolls” are the DEVIL. I love them. They are my vice. I hate them for that but I just cant seem to say no. I have held my weight gain off for 8 months now. I havent gained any during this time. But its a battle each and every day. I wish there was a MAGIC pill to help. If you ever have a program concerning Gastric Bypass and all the perks, habits, demons I would be glad to offer my help or advice or be available if you chose to do a show on this. I need some inspiration. I love life, my kids, my grandkids, my husband. I just really wonder sometimes if i love myself. Why cant i just say NO. Its a continious battle. Love you Wendy. Love your show.
Sincerely,
