Ron Douglas’ Fried Chicken
Finger lickin’ good!
Did Ron Douglas’ interpretation of KFC’s fried chicken make your mouth water?
Then you have to make it at your next family gathering!
Preparation:
Make sure the oil is at 365 degrees Fahrenheit before frying the chicken. To avoid making a mess, use a utensil when adding the chicken. Quickly lock the lid on the pressure fryer once all the pieces of chicken have been added.
For crispier chicken, use Crisco instead of lard and double-coat the chicken with the flour mixture.
Ingredients:
1 egg, beaten
1 cup buttermilk
1 (3-pound) chicken, cut into 6 pieces
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground oregano
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon dried sage
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried marjoram
1 teaspoon pepper
2 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons paprika
1 tablespoon onion salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons Accent
1 can lard (or one 3-pound can Crisco), enough to cover chicken in fryer
Directions:
1. Combine the egg and buttermilk in a large bowl. Soak the chicken pieces in the mixture.
2. Add the flour to a separate bowl and fold in all the herbs and spices.
3. Roll the chicken in the seasoned flour until completely covered.
4. Add the lard to a pressure fryer and heat to 365 degrees F. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s directions for your pressure fryer.
5. Use a utensil to lower 4 pieces of the chicken into the hot oil, and lock the lid in place. Be careful not to burn yourself with the hot oil.
6. Allow to fry for 8 to 10 minutes, until the chicken is golden brown and thoroughly cooked.
7. Once the pieces are cooked, release the pressure according to the manufacturer’s directions and remove the chicken to paper towels or a metal rack to drain.
8. Repeat with the remaining 2 pieces of chicken.
Makes 6 pieces

Hi Wendy,
I just started watching your show last week..Gotta tell you girl, It’s missing something. It is so ghetto and boring. I found it very hard to watch. I always want my brothers and sisters to suceed at whatever it is they are doing but I don’t think your show will last. You should not quit radio..I know you are trying to be you but the wig and clothes are a bit much. You are so pretty without all that phony stuff you putting on which seems to be the focus of your show. Your real friends ain’t gonna tell you my sistah!

Love your show Wendy, but getting bored/annoyed by ‘how you doin’ repeated ad nauseum — it was a cute catch phrase last summer — now it’s just tired (no offense). Seriously I can’t watch if you’re going to repeat that phrase 60 times a show!

I started listening to you on the radio, not very long ago, i didnt like you at first, but then i kept listening and you grew on me. And now the end of the month your gone, I do like your talk show, but i love the radio show, but i tuned in to late, and now its history. I hope to see you and Amarosa go at it again, cause that was really interesting, show that again in reruns. I watch you at 10pm at night on channel 9, because im at work at 10am in the morning, went back to work after sitting home about 6+ yrs. was a stay at home housewife, now the baby/kid/toddler is 7 1/2 yrs. old , and staying home was starting to get boring, i like the way you talked all nice to people on the phone, and then walk away from the phone and talked about them like a dog, behind their backs/or phone. That show was so good & funny, I hope and pray that Steve Harvey, never leaves the morning show, he makes going to work bareable, I might get a ticket one day and come visit you, keep up the good work wendy, I like the queen of mean more than the, of Queen of Media….:) P.S. is your movie still coming out? or is that on hold also?

Wendy I am totally devastated you leaving the other gigg.
I do understand you are growing, and now seeing you instead of listening 2 U live.
I’ve been with you from the bottom of the dial to the top and back to the bottom (radio dial) and now you are on tube. On radio you kept the grind funky and on tube U keeps the grind classy w/ a twist of Realism..
Cheers and Yes the BillBoard on 42nd with a Big Exclamation Point
is long over due!!!!
Yes Radio Medium is now Dead and TV is now reBirth
