Cheddar Cheese Biscuits
Ron Douglas’ interpretation of Red Lobster’s Cheddar Cheese Biscuit!
Umm…umm…good.
We love going to Red Lobster just for the biscuits and Ron Douglas says he’s cracked the code to their world famous cheddar cheese biscuit.
Ingredients:
2 cups biscuit mix
1/2 cup shredded mild Cheddar cheese
2/3 cup milk
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Parsley flakes, for sprinkling
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Stir together the biscuit mix, cheddar, and milk until a soft dough forms. Beat with a wooden spoon for about 30 seconds.
3. Spoon onto a greased cookie sheet. Smooth down the tops to prevent hard points from forming.
4. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until the tops are brown.
5. While the biscuits are baking, melt the butter in a pan and stir in the garlic powder.
6. Once the biscuits are done, brush the butter on tops, sprinkle with parsley flakes, and serve hot.
Makes 10 biscuits

Hi Wendy, my daughter’s name is Wendy also. I love – love – love your show!! I am going to try these biscuits, seem simple enough. I’ll let you know if they really taste like the Red Lobster’s variety. I would love to come to a live show at some later date and hear you are getting all filled up. How far ahead do I have to reserve??? Please let me know because I would love to meet you in person, your exhuberance radiates and you look exquisite.

LOL!!!! I am a Red Lobster Manager and this recipe is cute and close enough for those that don’t know. One Time we ran out the ingredients in the restaurant and i had to figure it out quick and I improvised and the guest never noticed (SHHHHH) But the secret is you must add another ingredient.

Wendy How You Doing,
I love KFC! I do not go there too often due to health reasons. However, when I do, I tend to order the original and crispy legs and thighs. I saw your show with the guy who stated that he cracked the Colonel’s secret. Well today I tried a modified version of his recipe. I did not use Lard, buttermilk, 2 teaspoon of salt,1 teaspoon of onion salt or 2 tablespoon of accent. I have hypertension and must follow a low sodium diet. I did the following substitutions
2 teaspoon of salt instead 1 teaspoon of Larwy Seasoning
Lard instead olive oil (canola oil works as well)
Buttermilk instead Low fat Milk
1 teaspoon of onion salt instead1 teaspoon of onion powder
2 tablespoon of accent instead 1 tablespoon of cayenne pepper and 1 tablespoon of cumin
I did not fry the chicken. I baked the chicken. Wendy when I saw the chicken I hollered. It looked like KFC original recipe! It did not taste like KFC but it was Finger Lickin Good. I had to stop myself after eating 6 pieces. I love your show! My brother Mateo Velasquez is a huge fan.

Ok, y’all. These biscuits are good if you make them with quality cheddar cheese. You better go out and get some crackerbarrel or something because it won’t be as good if you try to take short-cuts.
This is not the kind of recipie you want to try on the day before you plan to go grocery shopping, unless you’re like me and you stock your house with cracker barrel!

First off….let me say…I absolutely love the show! Wendy, girl, you are doing your thing!! Kudos to you!!
Now, these bisuits are to die for….I made them with my dinner one evening and my kids were fighting over who would get the last one! So, I had to make more the following evening!! LOL…They are so easy to make, inexpensive and they taste exactly like the restaurant’s.
Thank you Wendy for introducing me to Chef Ron Douglas! Since the show, I have signed up for his newsletter which includes new recipes in each edition.
I love to cook….so I am truly in my glory!!
Thanks again girl and How You Doin?

Congratulations and good luck with your television show. I love your show very much however, I would love to see just the printed recipe and not all of the pages that follow the recipe.
Perhaps the screen designer can show “Print” ant the top of the recipe screen.
Just my personal preference……….

I agree with the viewer comment on July 30th, regarding the cooking segment of the show, it’s more asking questions than about cooking, it’s ok to ask some questions. I would suggest looking at other talk shows that has been on TV for awhile and check out how they do their cooking segment . I know you are just starting in television and it going to take some time to learn to get it the way you want it. But I love your TV show. Good luck for a long TV career and congratulation on your radio hall of fame.

I just made these for my family and they turned out perfectly! They test exactely like red lobster. the only issue i had was not enough cheese, so i put 1 cup instead of 1/2 and it was good.

Ms. Wendy Williams: I’m one of your many radio fans and a big fan of the talk show. I would like to make a comment and a suggestion about the cooking portion of the show, and how out of place this segment looks….”a hot mess”. Not only do you tower over most of your guest, but the bending over and the gossiping is very distracting to your guest and the viewers. I would like to suggest, that maybe you should have your staff have a flat pair of slip on available for that segment and allow the guest to do their thing (cook). This is one of the areas I want you and your team to perfect moving forward. I love you and time does bring about perfection!

How you doing? I can’t believe that Red Lobsters Biscuits really taste this delicious with so few ingredients! I really don’t like cooking, but I like eating (smile), maybe I give these a try and surprise my family at the next food gathering. Thanks for sharing!
